For the 35th time, Tarare will welcome the cream of the 400 meter hurdles.

It was in 1988 that the miracle began: with a very limited budget, the capital of muslin had welcomed the best French people. Since then, the reputation has crossed borders, to the point that there have only been 22 French victories out of 50. We are almost certain that we will stay at 22!

Eleven Olympic or World finalists walked the red run. There were beaten the records of CANADA – at 48.88, stadium record – of Morocco, of France Espoir – by Marie-Jo PEREC. In 2007 the average of the first 8 men was 49.42, the best average for all meetings combined. 17 nations were represented in 2007, 16 were announced in 2013.

That year, the record holders of France had been invited and crossed a hurdle together, from VAN PRAAGH to DIAGANA, via POIRIER and BEHM.

In 2011, the world record holder Kevin YOUNG was invited and, at the end of the meeting, announced to the press that he was coming back in 2012 to run, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of his world record and the 25th of TARARE.

He was also there for the 30th anniversary of the race in 2017 and in 2021 for the inauguration of the new Jean Besson track.
